Excavating
Construction of any new home, structure, or lot improvement begins with excavation. Farm & Home Excavation is your trusted consultant with decades of expertise, and we will deliver a solid foundation on which to build.
We are a local family business who has built our reputation in the construction community on quality, communication, and trust. Our goal is to provide excellent service, and we will do your job right the first time. We aim to save our clients time and money wherever we can, and as such, we seek to be involved in the planning process as well as job execution. We will take the necessary time to review the site plans, look at the existing grades, look at the proposed grades, we review the house type that will be put on the lot to determine the lot requirements. It’s essential to determine early on whether or not the building plans are compatible with the lots. Other questions to ask before beginning any construction project are
- Is there adequate space for a functional garage and parking area?
- Are there trees to be saved?
- Is the septic going to be gravity or pumped?
- What do you expect the final grade to look like?
- What is the neighboring property like?
When you work with Farm & Home Excavating, the owner is on every job site. We start every job with a field visit, where we assess the lot based on the questions above. Based on our findings we determine whether or not the lot requirements can match with the homeowner’s expectation of the finished product.
In Maryland, there are laws about reforestation, so you need an excavator who knows the laws and will be conscious to work within them. Additionally, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Stormwater Management is strict, so if you are not working in accordance with the laws you are going to have a problem on your hands. Any deviation from lawful excavation practices is going to cost you time and money. Ask Us about any land excavation project that involves
- Downspouts
- Drywells
- Bioponds
- Sediment Control
